A few more details about the program While you may shadow a health professional for as little as one day for one hour, most participants shadow on multiple occasions, for up to several months. If you'd like to shadow with a few different professionals, shorter terms of shadowing may be beneficial. As we begin keeping track of shadowing hours, the Health Professions Advising Office can use this information to your benefit in your file. Once you have become a registered volunteer, Anna Dziamski will provide a list of Clinicians At the moment, shadowing is generally limited to the UCHospitals, but may also include other facilities. As the program expands, the locations of our participating professionals will grow as well. You can choose to shadow as many clinicians as you like. However, it may be beneficial to stay with one professional for a longer time, as you may form a closer relationship and be able to ask more interesting and helpful questions. Usually you will in contact with the professional you are shadowing through email. If you can no longer shadow, you would first tell your professional, and then alert the shadow program coordinator (Anna Dziamski). As shadowing is completely voluntary, no reasons are needed for ending your time with the shadowing program
How do I keep track of my hours? The Shadowing Program will begin using the Hospital volunteer tracking program, which allows volunteers to sign in and out of the hospital on computer. Until this is set up, hours can be kept with Anna Dziamski, and will require occasional confirmation by your clinician. As mentioned above, these hours will be kept on file with the HPA office if you so choose. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
